The team from Middlebury College built a passive and active solar home was inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Called Self-Reliance it performed well and was awarded 1st place in the Market Appeal competition.
Called ‘”First Light” and lovingly referred to a “Bach” – pronounced (batch), the beach house won the Engineering and Energy Balance contests and clenched a podium finish as 3rd overall.
